Featured The Coaching Search Thread; Stricklin "handling" it

At least Kiffin has recruited before and done so successfully at one time. He fields a competitive team at Ole Miss which isn't easy to do. I'd take him over Chucky. Kiffin has gone 10-3 twice and 11-2.. Again, that isn't easy to do at Ole Miss. I think they get 9-11 wins again this year. I think they will be at least 5-1 headed to Athens. I'm not saying I want Kiffin, but he has a far better college resume than Chucky. I just don't get the fascination with Chucky.
Kiffin has a consistent record of losing to teams he shouldnt. He has a consistent record of losing to ranked teams. And is a meh recruiter unless you want to use the cowbell angle which does have some truth...but how much? But when his train is on the rails the product on the field is good. I would like it a lot more if he brough Durkin with him.

Chucky is an old NFL guy which is a lot more relevant these days for college than ever. He knows how to do what Napier's big binder said he would do. I think Chucky has good connections and would be able to build a good staff. I just dont know if he can come straight into a Florida level job after sitting on the bench for 5 years though he has kept himself as active in coaching and current with the game as one could expect. He brings baggage with him that could turn some recruits off but I do think he is a well known guy in the state of Florida who recruits will want to play for given his resume. EDIT: I only like him if he brings in a good OC and not try to be the offensive guru and head coach after sitting out for a long time. In fact...I prefer whatever coach we hire is in that mold.

But honestly...dont think Stricklin even sniffs in that direction. Both are plan Bs/Cs imo.

For the record, I was joking. Unless I am missing something, has he ever recruited before? I don't get why anyone would want him coaching big time college football.
The GOAT is at UNC and has a lot to prove. Gruden's been out of coaching how long? I'm sure he would love to be on the sidelines again but there's so much more to it. He's not coming here.

Not that it's a topic or argument, but if we were having to choose between Gruden or Belichick, I'd choose Gruden all day long. Red flags galore, but I feel offensively we'd be better and his DGAF attitude would work better and I simply think he has more energy than the GOAT who has a granddaughter as his girlfriend.

Agreed. I just cannot fathom a scenario where Miata Boy even looks in the direction of a Gruden. Strick is so square and straight laced that I cannot see him ever considering someone controversial. Which means he'll hire someone so putzy and douchey that after a year, we'll be sitting here talking about "what ifs" with Kiffin or Gruden.

Who's the worst head coach in NAIA currently? That's more likely our next coach.

I'd choose Gruden all day long.

I love you buddy, but Gruden will destroy what is left of this program.

It is the only thing he will do right.

I don’t want Gruden but agree with Scotty. Of those two it’s not even a debate. Fisher won a title because of a great college QB in Winston. Ed O won a title with Burrow. Both were garbage without their one signature quarterback. Bill B was only successful because of Brad. He’s lucky he isn’t doing nighttime security at the mall somewhere.

Name ONE! I defy you to name even ONE!

They had the buyout together LAST YEAR and didn’t do sh*t.
I have a simple question. If going out and raising buyout money annually and the coach stays the same, is that not telling the "boss" something. I believe this is the UF football definition of "insanity"

You left out the full context of what I said :lol2:

Choice between GOAT with the teenage girlfriend versus Gruden, I feel Gruden would bring more success than Bill. I didn't say I want Gruden.

I swear these people just peruse these boards for their content. The part about Stricklin is verbatim what I’ve said since the BB title and more recently when his extension was announced. I feel cheap and violated.
You are giving them too much credit. They ask chatgpt and chatgpt peruses these boards.

I reserve the right to make editorial decisions.

:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

I think you are on the right track with the Oregon OC, the more I've looked.

Or the Miami OC. He probably has even more contacts local recruiting contacts.

Both are risky and there has to be a deep assessment of what their plans for DC are. I can't be another string of DC failures like the last three coaches have hired.

Can we expect that your endorsement of the Miami OC will swing that game into the Gator Win column?

First it isn't an endorsement. It was a list and it was not the entire list.

Second, if he isn't competent enough to destroy the defense of the Klansman, then no we do not want him. However what little Miami football I watched last year it appeared to be Cristobal who was retarding. They scored a lot of points.

They won't be too many teams concerned about Retard and his staff.
